  • So to summarize, the latitude and oceans currents/prevailing winds determines the air temperature of a location, and during an el Niño year the prevailing winds slow down or reverse, causing a decrease in air temperature. Thanks, for coming along as I learnt about the Ocean, Atmosphere, and Climate.
  • Also the reason I could get everywhere so fast, is because I can teleport. Don't ask any questions.
  • I'm back in Christchurch, but I am confused. Christchurch is far away from the Equator, but it is still pretty warm. So i did some research, and I learned that ocean currents affect the air temperature. Let's head to the beach to see if we can learn more there!
  • Christchurch, New Zealand

  • Huh, the water here is warm. Apparently, ocean currents can start near the equator, where the water gets a lot of energy, and is warm. Then, the ocean currents bring the energy to different places, like here! Then the energy is transferred from the water to the air. So now we know that both latitude and the ocean currents affect the climate and air temperature of a location. But wait, I wonder what pushes the ocean currents?
