- Early on George Washington advised us to steer clear of becoming involved with foreign affairs. Isolationists advocated non-involvement in European and Asian conflicts and non-entanglement in international politics.
- NATO & UN
- Internationalism is a political principle that advocates greater political or economic cooperation among states and nations. Pearl Harbor: One of the first times America became involved internationally willingly. Once the attack happened, most Americans wanted to become involved in the war, after US declared war Germany then declared war on the US. America was then involved in world war 2.
- Trail of Tears was the forced and brutal relocation of approximately 100,000 indigenous people. Motivated by gold and land, Congress (under President Andrew Jackson) passed the Indian Removal Act.
- North Atlantic Treaty Organization. NATO's primary purpose was to defend member nations from threats by communist countries.
