- The Delian League was formed and founded in 478 BCE by Athenians and it was an associate of Greek-city states with the number of members varying between 150 and 330 members and they formed this league because they need an alliance against enemies that might threaten lonian Greeks.
- The Second Peloponnesian War
- The league was formed so that Sparta could protect itself against both a possible uprising of Sparta's Helots and regional rival Argos.
- The Peloponnesian war was a war fought in ancient greece between Athens and Sparta- the two most powerful city states in ancient Greece at the time
- Both of the Spartan kings led an army to Athens - Agis from the fort at Decelea, Pausanias from the Peloponnese. Lysander sailed to the Piraeus with 150 ships, and blockaded the city from the sea. The resulting siege of Athens lasted into 404 BC, but the final outcome was never in doubt.
