- The mother was devastated and was scared for life after witnessing her young precious son get hit by a car by a driver who was being reckless. A few weeks later, this case was taken to court. The mother had later found out the driver was drunk that night and that is why the driver was driving recklessly.
- You have caused me trauma that I will suffer with for the rest of my life. I demand you to give me money for the emotional distress you have caused me
- The mother demanded to sue the driver for intentional infliction of emotional distress. Under the law, intentional infliction of emotional distress is defined as a tort that occurs when one acts in a manner that intentionally or recklessly causes another to suffer severe emotional distress.

- The court decided in favor of the mother, and thought that it was perfectly reasonable for the mother to be suing the drunk driver as it caused the mother severe trauma that she will suffer with for the rest of her life. The driver ended up having to pay $10,000 to the mother.
