- The Battle of The Somme begins on July 1st 1916 on the upper reaches of the river Somme in France
- How are they not dead yet!?
- They must have some sort of underground hide out
- Artillery, Machine Guns, Gas, Tanks and Rifles were used during the battle
- On the 24th June the British launched a week long artillery bombardment on the Germans
- What is that?
- I don’t know!
- The British thought their bombardment killed the Germans but they were hiding in underground bunkers
- 19,240 men were killed on the first day
- The tank was used for the first time during the Battle of Somme
