  • Albert Bandura studied how behavior is influenced by interaction between people's traits and social situations. What we think about our situation affects our behavior. Because I am thinking positively, my dance performance went well.

  • Is this juice really that good for me? I need to research it...
  • Eysenck looked at two dimensions: extraversion / introversion and stability / instability to describe a person's traits. I am quiet, calm, and passive in social situations, so Eysenck would classify me as an introvert and stable.

  • In Freud's psychoanalytic theory, he said that we all have an id, ego, and superego. The is is demanding immediate gratification and telling me to watch TV. The superego represents internalized ideals and is telling me to do my homework. The ego is the conscious, executive part that caused me to decide to do my homework.

  • Jung's view had emphasis on the unconscious and derived a common reservoir of archetypes from our species' universal experiences. Jung would classify me as a Sage archetype because I am very analytical and like to find the truth to understand my situations.
  • Rogers' view of personality was that people are essentially good unless impacted by something that inhibits their growth. His perspective also included genuineness, acceptance, and empathy. I am displaying these traits by helping a homeless person.

  • Costa & McCrae proposed the Big 5 Factors to tell the story of one's personality. These include openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. They would say I am more highly neurotic because I am anxious and often think about the negatives.
