- John C Calhoun:The State can secede, or withdraw from theUnion if it does wantto pay the tariffs.
- Henry Clay: Why don't we come to an agreement?
- Andrew Jackson:The Force Bill- will makethose states and South Carolina pay the federal tariffs.
- John C. Calhoun: Why dowe have to have the Tariff of Abominations?Why do we have to pay hightariffs and hurt thesouth's economy?
- Henry Clay: The North can lower the tariffs and the South can stop the movement fromseceding from the Union.
- Andrew Jackson:Those seem to be reasonable for the North and South to agree upon.
- John C Calhoun:We well agree to those terms and stop the Nullification movement to pay federal tariffs.
