  • I’ll fetch thee fire to dissolve it straight.
  • View here this blood that trickles from mine arm,And let it be propitious for my wish.
  • Within the bowels of these elements,Where we are tortur’d and remain for ever:Hell hath no limits, nor is circumscrib’dIn one self-place; but where we are is hell,And where hell is, there must we ever be:
  • First I will question with thee about hell.Tell me, where is the place that men call hell?
  • Faustus, repent; yet God will pity thee.
  • If heaven was made for man, ’twas made for me:I will renounce this magic and repent.
  • Ay, but Faustus never shall repent
  • Faustus must sign a contract in his own blood to sell his soul to Lucifer, However, midway through the contract his blood congeals, stopping his writing. Faustus wonders if this is a omen that he should return to god. Mephistopheles then brings him hot coal to liquefy the blood and Faustus finishes signing the contract and chanting the ritual -pg21
  • Faustus's first order for Mephistopheles was to inform him about the whereabouts of hell and what it truly is. Mephistopheles tells Faustus that its under the heavens and that when the world dissolves, every creature shall be purified. Faustus then proceeds to say "I think hell is a fable" This self delusion is one his great personality deficits as Faustus will struggle to deny the reality of hell and the peril that accompanies it.
