- One of the main causes of the Protestant Reformation was that the church was growing corrupt and selling indulgencies.

- I'm so confused by what's going on with the church...
- You need to make some changes!!
- By the time of the Renaissance some started to question the church. And those who wanted reform were dubbed protestants.
- Should we still trust the church?
- Another cause was that people started to question the church's teachings and demanding changes.
- There has to be something we can do!

- As a result of the protests, Pope Paul III created a committee of Catholic leaders in 1545 to review church practices.
