  • This event was significant to the Americans because they gained economic, physical, and population growth; it also kicked off America’s Manifest Destiny, which is the idea that the Americans had the right to expand their country from sea to shining sea. On the other hand, it was significant to Native peoples because they were stripped from the land, that they had been living on for thousands ofyears to make way for greedy settlers

  • "The United States of America and the United Mexican States animated by a sincere desire to put an end to the calamities of the war which unhappily exists between the two Republics"

  •  These acts were very impactful on the 5 civilized tribes (Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, Seminole because they were forced to walk 1,000 miles in the dead of winter with almost no resources and nowhere to go to make way for white settlers; so, these acts quickly changed the Natives views on these new strangers. The Americans benefited from these acts because they forced out what they referred to as “savages” out so they could gain and control more land.

  • White Settlers on Oregon Trail - 1843
  • By the Americans taking over the land known to the Mexicans as Tejas they lost almost a third of their land, this left a huge significance on their geography and physical borders with the United States of America. While Mexico did own Texas it was very significant to Native peoples because they had been living there for centuries, so when these new white settlers came in and just kicked them out, they were left with nowhere to go.

  • While the United States would like to think gaining all the land after the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo gave them greater power and benefited them it worsened a long-lasting conflict in the United States, slavery. On the other hand, this event was very important to the Mexicans because it shaped how they viewed this new country and how high tensions were between them.
  • The Oregon Territory was extremely significant to the Americans because by gaining this piece of land it completed their Manifest Destiny, now the United States of America stretched from sea to shining sea. To the British though, they lost thousands of square miles of land containing riches and a plethora of resources.

  • There has been a back up, they found more gold in South Dakota, so we are going to have a bit of delay
  • One animal significantly impacted the Natives and Americans, this animal was the buffalo, the buffalo was a vital and sacred resource to the Natives because they were key to there survival, they used EVERY single part of it and made sure nothing went to waste. The Americans on the other hand would shoot these buffalo for fun as excursions killing thousands at a time and leaving them there, so this furthered conflict between the two groups.
