  • Yay! good job on killing the bison now we can eat!!
  • These are native Americans. They are a part of the Cherokee Nation who resided around south east USA. They have been living in peace for most of their time in the USA since they were the first ones there. They thrived on teamwork and working together to put things back into their community like hunting for buffalo and other animals to feast on. They have a rich and divine culture that hasn't been seen that much anywhere else .
  • But everything would change for the Cherokees when in 1830, Andrew Jackson would sign into law an act through congress called the Indian removal act. This would move the Native Americans out of Mississippi and parts of Alabama that were occupied by the Cherokee letting Andrew jackson gain full control of the state by pushing out the natives occupation.
  • It will relieve the whole State of Mississippi and the western part of Alabama of Indian occupancy, and enable those States to advance rapidly in population, wealth, and power.
  • Leave this area and move to the west of the Mississippi river, if you do not comply we will have no choice but to open fire!
  • The Cherokee nation were one of the last ones to be removed from their land due to their resistance, but that all changed in 1838 and 1839, when the new president Martin Van Burren ordered 7,000 federal troops under general Winfield scott to evict the Cherokee and forcefully move them to the west of the Mississippi river.
  • Our treaties protect us!, This is our land!
  • Keep it moving Indians!, No need to stop
  • But in the end, the 16,000 Cherokee had no choice but to relocate and leave the land for the white men to settle. They would then have to start the migration to Oklahoma that is known today as the Trail Of Tears. It was the migration route that the 5 civilised tribes followed including the Cherokee to go to Oklahoma, It gained this name due to the exposure, diseases and starvation that occurred on this trail. Because of the trail of tears, The Cherokee Nation lost over 4,000 people leaving only around 12,000 Cherokee left, splitting families and the community as a whole apart.
  • Before
  • After the Cherokee left their land for the white settlers, it would change drastically. First they would get rid of any evidence that native Americans were there first then industrialize and economically profit off the resources that were on ancestral native American land, just how Andrew Jackson wanted it and to manifest destiny, A belief to expand and claim more land for economic growth and capitalist reasons. They would build housing to populate mostly other white residents that were unaware of the people that came before them. It would stay like this even in the modern age that we are in.
  • After
  • Good day to manifest destiny!!!!
  • Now in the present day, people are learning and becoming more aware of the atrocities done to native Americans and the Cherokee's forced removal out of South East USA. More new Native American activists are popping up like young Cierra Fields who originated from the Cherokee nation and helped teach healthier living styles among Native American communities to reduce cancer. Nathan Phillips and Winona De luke were activists who played core parts in the Dakota Access pipeline protests,
