- Hi I'm Wojciech! I was born and raised in Poland where I lived until the age of 19. My favourite subjects at school were history and economics. I started attending MUN conferences to expand my understanding of current affairs and political landscape. I researched and wrote papers on the Arab Spring, human trafficking, overpopulation and global hunger.
- In 2011, I travelled to Siberia, Russia to join a volunteering workcamp. We spent a month cleaning a local river, removing illegal rubbish dumps and raising awareness with local communities about recycling, waste management and environmental protection. It was the first time I felt that I wanted to get involved more in environmental initiatives to have a global impact.
- In 2012, I joined a volunteering programme in Hong Kong, protesting against shark finning and campaigning for greater protection of the oceans and marine life. You could say I pre-dated Seaspiracy by a good few years!
- I moved to London to study Law. During my time at university I joined the Pro Bono clinic and worked on unfair dismissal cases. I also became more involved in environmental and social initiatives, promoting energy saving in student halls and fighting homophobia in sports.
- I started my professional career in 2016 on a banking graduate scheme, specialising in commercial mortgages and risk management. However, I quickly realised that I had a passion for climate change and sustainable finance and wanted to combine my interests with working life. In 2021 I joined EY's Financial Services Climate Risk team helping banks understand vulnerabilities in their portfolios and prepare for the transition to Net Zero.
