Storyboard Text

  • The Indus Valley was located along the Indus River that begins in the Himalayan mountains and ends at the Arabian Sea.
  • it kept the land green and fertile for growing crops
  • They used the water for Drinking, Wahsing, to Irrigate fields, and for religious ceremonies
  • the cities grew higher because people built new houses on top of old ones
  • they made the streets wide so two bullock carts or elephants could pass each other
  •  their houses were also used as workshops and they used the roof as a extra room
  • when taking showers they stood on a brick tray and poured water on themselves from a jar
  • the water went out of the house through a pipe into drains in the street
  • lots of people think that the Great Bath at Mohenjo-daro was used for religious functions.
  • A bathroom area next to it was likely used for purification before going into the Great Bath 
  • Poor people or anyone who was not pure weren't allowed to use the Great Bath
  • they used 400 picture signs to write 
  • there was pictures on seals to show what their gods might have looked like
  • mass murder, climate changing,, river changing directions, not enough food, and massacred are all ways the Indus Valley Civilization could have been destroyed
