- Natural vegetation is where plants grow naturally and are not affected by human interference. Natural vegetations vary from place to place depending on availability of sunlight and rainfall.
- Evergreen forests are those in which the trees don't shed their leaves and stay green throughout the year. These are usually humid and receive rainfall almost everyday.
- In Deciduous forests the trees shed their leaves and this is done to prevent water loss from transpiration in the dry seasons.
- There are two types of grasslands: Temperate and Tropical grasslands.
- Ways to conserve forests:1. Reckless deforestation should be kept in check.2. Forest fires should be prevented.3. Unplanned urban growth should be kept in check.4. Forest areas should not be converted into farmlands.5. More trees should be planted.
- Initiatives:1. Sanctuaries, wildlife parks and biospheres for endangered animals.2. There are charges pressed against poaching of animals.
- Animals are being hunted for their fur, horns, ivory an other products. Deforestation has also reduced their habitat. The time of the hour is to conserve animals and there have been initiative by the government.
