- No. You must marry Demetrius for the humble boy he is.
- Then I must take you to the court of Duke Theseus. He will be the one to sort this out now.
- Dad, I like a boy called Lysander. Could I please marry him?
- No way! My friend Helena is in love with him. I will not marry Demetrius.
- The Duke of Athens is to be married the Queen of Amazons. At the festival two young men, Demetrius and Lysander meet Hermia. Both men fall in love with Hermia however Hermia likes Lysander.
- Dear Duke Theseus, my daughter has refused to marry the person whom I want her to marry. This disobeys the law passed by your majesty.
- I see, so Hermia, why did you refuse to marry the person whom your father wants you to marry?
- Okay, according to the law, you must marry the person whom your father says. Therefore, I give Hermia 4 days to change her mind and if she decides not to, she shall be executed on the morning of the fourth day.
- Hermia asks her dad to allow her to marry Lysander but he refuses and forces her to marry Demetrius but Hermia denies. After this, Egeus, Hermia's dad takes her to the court of the Duke of Athens, Theseus.
- In the court, Theseus is forced to give Hermia only four days to change her mind even though Theseus is not a supporter of this law. This decision makes Hermia sad.
- I do not like the person whom my father is suggesting. My friend Helena likes that person and I like someone else.
