- William lll Goes To Take Over England
- William III from nearby Holland got letters from the Parliament telling him to take over England from James II. They wanted him because he is a Protestant who would agree with them, William then came to take over England.
- We shall get him and William lll will rule!

- For 100 years, rulers swung back and forth between Catholic and Protestant rule.

- King James ll was a hard core Catholic and the Parliament was Protestant. They did not like him at all. He lost popular support.

- The Glorious Revolution
- Furthermore,William III landed in England and defeated a small band of troops loyal to James II.James II soon fled to France in the face of these threats. This left the throne open for Protestants William and Mary to claim.
- William III and Mary ll (James ll 's daughter) took over and signed the English Bill of Rightseliminating the power of the monarch to suspend, pass or execute laws. It also guaranteed rights to citizens such as the right to bear arms, freedom from cruel and unusual punishment, freedom to petition the king, and freedom of speech. Now people had their natural rights and they were protected by government like how John Locke believed.
- This new political arrangement in England was to create a constitutional monarchy. This means that the monarchy would share political and legislative (law-making) power with the English Parliament. The time of William III and Mary II 's rule is called the Bloodless Revolution because there was barely any wars that went on during this time. It was a happy and glorious timeTHE END.
