Storyboard Text

  • The story starts with a mortal man capturing two deities' attention with his beauty.
  • One was Apollo, the God of the sun, music, prophecy, disease, and archery. The other was the God of the West Wind.
  • Apollo and Zephyros became rivals, always competing for who should have the young man, whose name was Hyacinthus.
  • You are foolish to think that he could ever love you, Zephyros!
  • They both wanted the handsome mortal for themselves. Both Gods were in love with Hyacinthus.
  • Unfortunately for the God of the West wind, the love was one-sided.
  • The mortal had only love for the sun god.
  • One day, Hyacinthus and Apollo were having a friendly discus-throwing competition. Apollo, wanting to impress his crush, threw the discus with all his strength.
  • In a state of jealous rage, Zephyros controlled the wind to turn the discus right back.
  • The discus hit Hyacinthus' head and killed him.
  • The Hyacinth, he called it.
  • Heartbroken, the God of music turned his love into a purple flower, like the color of Hyacinthus' eyes.
