- Hello class! I'm Mrs. Frizzle! Welcome to our Cell!It's a normal day in muscle cell city. Right now, our city is going through the first phase of interphase, or G1. G1 is also the first checkpoint that the cell has to pass in order to continue in the cell cycle.
- Well class, we have arrived at the school where the copying of the DNA occurs. This phase of interphase is called S phase. Once the cell passes this check point it will move on to the final phase of interphase/
- Now that the cell has past the synthesis checkpoint, it will move to G2, where it will continue to grow and prepare for the forming of its daughter cell. Once the cell passes the G2 check point it can move on to the next phase of the cell cycle, mitosis.
- Careful class! This cell didn't pass one of it's checkpoints and is about to enter apoptosis, or cell death.
- Thankfully our cell has passed all of the checkpoints and will be ready to move on to the next phase of the cell cycle, called mitosis.
