  • WHAT ARE THEIR NAMES?
  • YOU ARE EITHER FOR OR AGAINST THIS COURT!
  • They were Sarah Good, Sarah Osborne, Goody Proctor, etc.
  • Tell me names and I won't fire you and you get to keep feeding and providing shelter to you family.
  • They were...
  • The first scene shows how Proctor was forcing Tituba to say names by bribing her that if she were, she wouldn't be whipped. On the second scene, it shows something similar. It is a businessman trying to get certain names from his employee and claimed that he will be "safe" from being blacklisted. The Crucible would be considered an allegory because both scenes show how they were forced into telling names. They were either going to tell names or live a miserable life after that. What the people saying names were wrong, but they had no choice. They needed to maintain their jobs to support their families and lifestyle. The people that had power used the people to make their image better by saying that they found certain witches/communists.
  • You will look very suspicious if you don't comply. Comply and they won't try to kill you.
  • The first scene shows when a judge told the people that they should be either with them and obey them or to disobey them and be condemned. The second scene shows a man that says that you shouldn't defy them or else you would be living a life of hell. On both these events, life was unjust. You couldn't be in between or you would be suspicious of being a witch/communist. You couldn't say what you truly believed or else you would be punished.
