  • July 12, 1812The United States Invades CanadaThe first of three attempts to invade Canada fails as the Americans underestimate British Loyalty and strength.
  • July 17, 1812USS Constitution defeats the HMS GuerriereThe USS Constitution known as "Old Ironsides" defeats the HMS Guerriere, one of the ships of the British Blockade of American ports. This victory helped inspire the Americans.
  • August 16, 1812Battle of Fort MakinacThe British take over Fort Mackinac in the Michigan Territory.
  • September 10, 1813Battle of Lake ErieCommodore Oliver Hazard Perry defeats the British Navy on Lake Erie
