- One Night,Kyra was sleeping , when she suddenly heard her name being called out. She woke up and then realized her kidneys,Mr. And Mrs. Beans were willing to talk to her urgently.
- So Sorry to disturb you Kyra, But we and Nephronny- One of the the nephrons were having a debate about who is more important for the process of excretion. And we want you to be the judge of this debate.
- Yes Kidney, What do you want to talk about in the middle of the night, I was having such a great dream about my new bicycle.
- Okay, so we begin our debate now. So,Nephronny, We are one of the few most important organs of the body. We are powerful Chemical Factories that remove harmful toxins and wastes from the body.
- Well,Mr. And Mrs Beans, you are correct. But you may have missed one point, that I and millions of my friends are actually the basic structural and functional units of the kidneys.
- Oh, Is That So? Then Nephronny will you please tell us about the structure that you and your friends have?
- Sure,Why Not? Each one of us is composed of a renal corpuscle and a renal tubule . The renal Corpuscle consists of a tuft of capillaries called glomerulus encompassed by the Bowman's capsule .
- This debate seems to be interesting. I too want to add something about the role of nephrons in the process of urine formation.In the first part of nephron,The Bowman;s Capsule, One end of the glomerulus is attached to renal artery which brings impure urea waste-containing blood into it. then , the impurities are filtered. This filtration under high osmotic pressure is called ultrafiltration.
- Nephron is actually correct.
- Kyra. Now, The other part of us is coiled.Here,substances like glucose,amino acids, and excess water required by the body are reabsorbed by the PCT and DCT through selective Reabsorption.
- So,these are the vital functions performed by me and myfriends. If I summarize, We perform the function of Filtration Of blood, Selective Reabsorption, And Tubular Secretion. These all are necessary for process of excretion and for the kidneys to function properly.
- I want to add something too. then the remaining urine is expelled from body through urethra by process of tubular secretion
