  • The Great Departure
  • Hey, Alan! After you shower, dinner will be ready.
  • This is Alan. Alan is a straight-A student and at the top of his class. He is a high school senior and just 4 months shy of beginning his first semester of college.
  • Alan, you know a really important time is approaching. No pressure, but have you came to a decision yet?
  • This is such a crucial moment in your life, son, but one that will never be forgotten.
  • Alan is from New York City. His love for his city is unmatched. He loves New York City as much as he loves his friends and family. Alan is amazed by everything New York City has to offer, especially what he likes to call "the breathtaking skyscrapers."
  • Well Alan, you're an intelligent young man. I think it'll be be best that you explore a little. Have you thought about giving NYC a break?
  • I agree with your mother, Alan. Moving away from home would teach you a lot of different responsibilities. Ones that i think will be extremely beneficial.
  • Another thing that Alan loves is living at home with his parents. His clothes are always washed and folded, his room is always clean and tidy, and he never has to worry about what he's going to eat at night.
  • Maybe my parents were right. I should've listened when I had the chance.
  • As graduation is quickly approaching and the start of his college career is around the corner, his parents think it's time to have the conversation of where he's decided to attend college.
  • There's been some thought, but I'm not sure that I've made my final decision yet.
  • Looking out his living room window, Alan is not too fond of his parents' opinions. He decides to make his own decision, and that was to stay in New York City.
  • Your dad is right! We won't always be around to hold your hand. I think it's time to handle some things on your own.
  • I knew exactly where this conversation was going!
  • In just 4 years, as Alan would've been walking across the stage in his college graduation, he lost both of his parents in a car accident.
  • Look at me now. My parents are dead. I have no home, no car, no experiences. Just a lousy degree and nothing to show for it!
