- Kenya and Starr are at a party when Khalil, Starr's best-friend who she has not seen in years shows up.
- Kenya is chatting with some other friends and Starr is feeling left out when two shots are fired
- Starr loses Kenya as she has gone off to 'have it out' with some girl for stealing her crush. Starr goes with Khalil as he offered to drive her home
- Starr and Khalil are catching up and Starr realises how much she missed him. A police car starts coming up behind them.
- Khalil pulls the car over and keeps his hands visible. Starr remembers Maverick's words to remember the officers badge number and appearance. Khalil says it is not of the officers business when he asks where they are going. Starr realises that Khalil's parents must have never had 'the talk' with him. The officer orders Khalil to get out of the car. The officer goes back to his car for something. Khalil goes to the car door to check on Starr. Khailil is shot.
- Starr is held at gunpoint until her parents arrive.Starr wants Officer 115 to close Khalil's eyes.
