- IIndia ranks second worldwide in farm outputs. As per 2018, agriculture employed 50% of the Indian work force and contributed 17-18% to country's GDP.
- The history of Agriculture in India dates back to Indus Valley Civilization and even before that in some places of Southern India.
- According to consensus in modern genetics, anatomically modern humans first arrived on the Indian subcontinent from Africa between 73,000 and 55,000 years ago.
- The size of these villages varies considerably. 236,004 Indian villages have a population of fewer than 500, while 3,976 villages have a population of 10,000+.
- According to the 2011 census of India, 68.84% of Indians (around 833.1 million people) live in 640,867 different villages.
