  • On the 11th of November, at 5.20 AM, the Armistice was signed, signaling the end of the First World War. This major step in the ending of WW1, was signed in a railway carriage in Compiegne. The people that were there agreed to meet in Paris.
  • Meet me at the Palace of Versailles
  • A meeting at Versailles tookplace in January 1919, to establish the terms of the peace after the World War.32 representatives of 32 different states came to this meeting, However, negotiations were dominated by ‘The Big 3’, made up of Woodrow Wilson, USA; Georgres Clemenceau, France; and Lloyd George, Great Britain. These 3 representatives of the 3 countries had the most power.

  • Woodrow Wilson from theUnited States of America, wanted a bit of punishment for Germany, however didn’t want it to be too harsh. This was because the USA hadn’t been in the war for as long as France and Britain, and hadn’t experienced much of Germany’s brutalness and damage. He wanted to create a league of nations to prevent another World War, and to make sure that Germany wasn’t destroyed, and that Germany shouldn’t be blamed for the war.
