  • I AM HANS CRISTIAN OERSTED, I discovery marked the beginning of a revolution in the understanding of electromagnetism, providing the first connection between what had been thought to be two very different physical phenomen
  •
  • 1820
  • I AM MICHAEL FARADAY, I discovered that a magnetic field influenced polarized light – a phenomenon known as the magneto-optical effect or Faraday effect. I discovered electromagnetic induction, which led to the invention of the dynamo, the forerunner to the electric generator.
  • 1845
  • I AM JAMES CLERK MAXWELL, I described light as a propagating wave of electric and magnetic fields. More generally, I predicted the existence of electromagnetic radiation: coupled electric and magnetic fields traveling as waves at a speed equal to the known speed of light.
  • 1867
  • In 1867, James Clerk Maxwell predicted that there should be light with even longer wavelengths than infrared light. In 1887 Heinrich Hertz demonstrated the existence of the waves predicted by Maxwell by producing radio waves in his laboratory.
  • I AM HEINRICH HERTZ I, discovered radio waves and conclusively proved Maxwell's theory of electromagnetism. I discovery initiated a sequence of events which led to much of our modern communications technology including radio, television, satellite communications and mobile phones.
  • I AM ANDRE MARIE AMPERE, I made the revolutionary discovery that a wire carrying electric current can attract or repel another wire next to it that's also carrying electric current. I went on to formulate Ampere's Law of electromagnetism and produced the best definition of electric current of my time.
  • Although he made contributions of some importance in mathematics (algebra, mathematical analysis and calculation of probabilities), undoubtedly his greatest contribution was made in the area of electromagnetism, at the age of 45 years
  • Electromagnetic waves are produced whenever electric charges are accelerated. This makes it possible to produce electromagnetic waves by letting an alternating current flow through a wire, an antenna. The frequency of the waves created in this way equals the frequency of the alternating current. Electromagnetic waves or EM waves are waves that are created as a result of vibrations between an electric field and a magnetic field. In other words, EM waves are composed of oscillating magnetic and electric fields.
