Storyboard Text

  • According to the Bible, the Christian holy book, God made the world, the day, the night and all living things within six days. He rested on the seventh, known as the Sabbath day. God placed the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, in a beautiful garden called Eden.
  • Suddenly they became aware of shame and sin (bad deeds) and God banished them from Eden. From now on people had to work the land for their food.
  • There was no Heaven for people who died, as they were tainted with this original sin, so they went to Hell to be punished forever.
  • But Adam and Eve sinned against God. He had told them not to eat the apple from the tree of knowledge, but they did, tempted by the Devil.
  • The descendants of Adam and Eve were the Jews, or Israelites (the people of Israel).
  • Jesus was crucified (nailed to a wooden cross and left to die) on Good Friday.
  • So Jesus is the redeemer (someone who takes back the past sins) of mankind. Many Christians wear a crucifix (a necklace with a cross on) to remember what Jesus did for them. Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet too, but not the son of God. They call him Isa.
  • They had began to put together the Old Testament, the first part of the Bible, containing the story of Adam and Eve and their other prophets (messengers of God) called Abraham and Moses.
  • However, it is said he rose from the dead on Easter Sunday and comforted his disciples. He also made Heaven available to good people when they die. Christians say God let his own son die to save mankind from eternal death. Jesus also visited Hell to save all the souls of good people who had died before this event.
  • In the Bible it is said that Jesus was a selfless man, who travelled around with his disciples (followers) performing miracles, such as healing the sick and feeding 5000 from 5 fish and 5 loaves. He told people the good news about God and Heaven. Many Romans and some Jews thought Jesus was a false prophet and not the Messiah at all.
