  • Slave for sale!
  • This project is about Slaves and Settlers. Life as a slave was really hard. They'd treat them terribly and only made most of them slaves because of the color of their skin. Most people were miners, craftsmen , and traders. Slaves had to to work extra hard to please their owners but their owners were never impressed.
  • Slavery existed in West Africa for many centuries. A lot of them had been captured during wars or found guilty of crimes. Each year, thousands of Africans were traded to countries in the middle east for salts and other resources. Using slaves was a cheap and unnecessary way of getting work done.
  • West Africans captured them and sometimes marched them hundreds of miles to Africa's coast. This was called the Triangular Trade. There were three different parts of it. Europeans would trade cloth, weapons, and other goods. Slaves were sent across The Atlantic Ocean.
  • In these three cells I'll be talking about settlers. In the New England Colonies they'd let you decide your future unlike some other colonies. New England had many nice harbors. In New England colonies the fishing industry had lots of jobs so it was popular there.
  • In the Middle Colonies farming was the most popular job. There was plenty of land and the weather allowed farmers to raise many crops such as wheat. This region had two popular cities. New York City and Philadelphia. These cities offered lots of amazing jobs. 
  • In the Southern Colonies rice plantations were very popular. People were able to sell it for a great price. This rice was amazing. With the money you would earn, you could afford many things others couldn't
