- It is the first day of school. Greg Hefley has to pick a seat.

- Greg's grandpa moves in and takes Greg's room to sleep in. Greg has to find a different room to sleep in, and he picks Manny's room(Manny is Greg's younger brother).
- Falling Action
- The petition ends up approved. So everyone goes to the park to clean it.
- Resolution
- Greg is the boy and the other person is the grandpa
- Greg attends the Hardscrabble farm trip, later that night Greg is walking in the woods to find firewood. However he gets scared when his finds what looks like Silas's Scratch shack.
- When Greg got there everyone was talking about a farmer named Silas who lived in the woods. He returns home after he saw Silas in the woods.
- Greg returns home from his horrible week vacation to the Hardscrabble farm. He returns home safely and lives happy even after with his family. This story's genre is Children's literature, Novel, Humor, Graphic novel, Comedy, Diary fiction.
