Storyboard Text
- Papa leaves Salt Licks to go make cash money in Kansas. Just as Papa was leaving Travis sprinted out and asked him for a horse. He has been begging for one all year. Papa said if he took care of everything while he was gone he would get him one.
- Travis finds the Old Yeller dog stealing their meat. Travis’s brother Arliss kept the dog as a pet. Travis could not stand this because he thought the dog was an ugly thief.
- Travis finally gets to watch his first bull fight but then unluckily Old Yeller chases the bulls away. This was another reason he didn’t like Old Yeller.
- Arliss tries to capture a cub but then the mama bear comes out and is about to charge at him. Old Yeller then gets the bear to chase him instead so that everybody can get to safety. After this Travis is starting to like Old Yeller.
- A guy named Bud Searcy and his daughter Lisbeth came by. Bud watches over the people of Salt Licks. He came to say that something has been stealing people’s food. While Bud and Mama were talking Travis and Lisbeth walked down to the creek. Lisbeth then tells Travis that his dog is the one stealing the food. But she said that she wouldn’t tell because she has a dog named Miss Prissy and Old Yeller is the dad of Miss Prissy`s pups.
- Since Travis and Mama knew that Old Yeller was a thief they needed to think of a way to stop him from getting out in the middle of the night. Travis took Old Yeller out to the cornfield and they slept there. This way Travis cold hear if he was leaving. Also this was a good way to guard the cornfield at night.
