In every part of the world, there are natural disasters that can cause damage to property, land, wildlife, and even humans. A natural disaster is a major event that is caused by natural processes around the world. The following activities will introduce students to the different types of disaster and help them be prepared for common natural disasters in their area.
If you are inside, do not leave. Stay inside and don't stand under a doorway.
Drop to your hands and knees so the earthquake doesn't knock you over.
If possible, hide under a sturdy desk or table.
Don't hide in the corner of outside walls or under windows, light fixtures, or shelves.
If you are in bed, stay there and cover your head with a pillow.
If you are outside, move away from power lines, street lights, bridges, overpasses, and buildings. When you find an open space, drop to the ground and cover your head with your hands.
