The French and Indian War began in 1754 and ended in 1763. It became known as the Seven Years' War. In the war, the French and Native Americans fought against the British. The war was ultimately to gain more power and control over the lands and seas in the Americas. Britain ended up winning, successful in taking France's land but it happened at a great cost.

After Britain won the war they were severely in debt and taxed the colonies with the Stamp Act in order to provide an army for them and get money. As well as that they also created a law stating that everyone has to provide housing for any soldier who needed it. This started protests in the colonies.

The Boston Massacre was a riot on March 5, 1770. It ended in five colonists being killed. It started as a small dispute between some American colonists and a British soldier but quickly became something more. The conflict made people angrier at the British and helped influence the American Revolution.

They dumped 342 chests of tea imported by the British East India company into the harbor. The event ended up being the first major action against Britain. It made the Britains realize what the colonists would do and encouraged patriots' hope for independence.
