  • The Prison Reform of 1841 was very important. It showed that prisons were very cruel. Action needed to be taken agains tthe prisons and something needed to be done.

  • Get us out of these gross prisons! We are getting sick!
  • Reformer, Dorothea Dix was going to teach Sunday School in the Prison but what she found was much more horrifying. She saw children being whipped and beaten for not following directions, living in dirty cages and she knew she had to do something

  • The conditions in the prison were very rough and cruel. They would chain up children who committed minor crimes like theft. Some people locked in cages and others left in unsanitary conditions. After Dix was in the prison she decided there was change needed mental asylums and safe places for people with mental issues. She got many states to create mental asylums for people in need.

  • You need to get people out of their prisons, they get beaten, whipped, and chain up. It is very unsanitary as well
