  • (3) Oh good question! You don't need any other education besides a high school diploma! You could take classes in mental health if you'd like, but they are not requirements.
  • (1) Hi! I'm so excited you want to be a foster carer!#160; Are there any questions?
  • (2) What level of education do I need to have?
  • (6) Okay, I can work with that. What about my vacation time, do I get any? Also, would I need any extra language requirements?
  • (4) Alright, that sounds simple enough. How much would I make annually, and what are my hours? I would like to be in college and a foster carer, if possible.
  • (5) Your average hours would depend on what kind of child you have in your custody, but shouldn't be much of your time. Your annual salary can be anywhere from $4,000 to $33,000, as that would also be depending on who you are caring for in that time slot.
  • (10) These are some valid questions! Perks aren't many either, but you are seen as an essential worker, therefore you don't need to worry about losing this job. Conditions are mainly inside, though if you have a small child they may want to explore and want to go outside, but it is ultimately your call when they are with you, since you are their caretaker.
  • (7) Vacation days are not really here, as it counts as vacation when you aren't housing a child. Extra languages aren't required, but if you get kids of mixed who prefer an other language other than English, it would be easier to understand.
  • (8) Okay, that seems fair. But what about perks, and where am I normally if I'm a foster carer?
  • (14) I would believe that yes, it would still be needed. Kids will always be abused, one way or another. Or they may just not have good enough homes that they should live in. That's where your job comes in. You are meant to care for those who have been abused or neglected. You are meant to raise them, protect and care for them. Essentially, you become the new parent/guardian.
  • (12) Well, some sad things are that you would see 'broken' kids and often deal with their rage or depression, and you don't get paid much for that. However, you provide a safe space, which helps ease them into feeling safety. Plus, you get to spend time with children, and in some cases can adopt them!
  • (13) Okay. Can you tell me if there will still be a need for this job in the future? I don't want to be kicked off a job. Also, would you mind going into detail about this job?
  • (11) This seems easy. Can you tell me some positive and negative things about this?
  • (17) Alright, you sound fantastic. Now, do you have any hobbies that may pertain to this career?
  • (15) Okay, now can you tell me why you believe this career choice is a good fit for you, if you may, please.
  • (16) Well, I enjoy spending time with children and I understand the feeling of being neglected, abused and I get how they feel unloved. I aim to be a safe space for thosegoing through the system, and helping the absolute best I can.
  • (20) Thank you so much! I'll be looking forward to that call, Miss Everly.
  • (19) Wow, you really thought this out! I'll definitely give you a call first thing once we review your resume. Thank you for your time, Miss Arya.
  • (18) Well, I love doing art. I can make that into fun, simple activities to stimulate their minds and have them focus on things. I enjoy cooking, which would help if the child had a comfort food and would like me to make it. Even if I don't know the recipe, I could have them help and make an enjoyable bonding moment out of it, and help them with motor skills. Lastly, I love animals. I would most likely own many pets and I would teach them how to care for other things. Hey, If I believe they can keep one alive on their own, I may buy them one to own.
