Storyboard Text
- Brian is on a plane headed to Northwestern Canada. He is going there to visit his father because of his parents' divorce. He then remembers a secret about their divorce, which he just happened to see. He knows that his mother had been unfaithful to his dad. Neither parent knows that Brian knows this.
- He is thinking about his parents' divorce when the pilot has a heart attack. Suddenly, he has to land the plane on a lake and fend for himself. He has nothing but the hatchet his mother gave him and himself. Now it is Brian against the wild.
- Brian now has to learn to live off the land and survive. He does many things including make tools, fire, and even a fish pen to keep fresh fish. He is always looking for food and is always hungry. He records events on days like "First Bird" and "First Rabbit." This is his name for the days when he gets meat and bird instead of fish, for the first time.
- Of all things, Brian is hit by a tornado. It comes right over him and picks up everything he's completed. He then loses everything he has made and needs to rebuild.
- Things are not looking good, but every cloud has a silver lining. Brian is scanning the damage, when he notices the tail of the plane sticking out of the water, pulled up by the tornado. He then remembers the survival pack inside the plane, that the pilot told him about when they were flying. He goes over there and extracts it. He opens it at his shelter and finds important things like an emergency transmitter, a rifle, and MREs (Meal Ready to Eat.) He is then picked up by a bush pilot who heard the emergency transmitter, which he unwittingly turned on.
- Brian is rescued and brought home. It starts to look like his parents will get together but they never do. Brian tried several times but was never able to tell his dad "The Secret."
