Convection : The transfer of heat due to the flow of currents in a liquid or gas
Today we will be learning about the different ways heat transfers! Starting with Convection!
Hmm.. this reminds me of when me and my mom were cooking yesterday..
[Title Slide]
First we had to boil the water! The temperature/heat increased and a current was created within the water.
The teacher is telling the students that they are learning about how heat transfers. They are starting with convection and the definition is on the board.
Conduction : The transfer of heat by direct contact
The students are sitting and listening to the teacher. While listening, the girl starts to remember how her mom and her were cooking, and how she experienced convection in action.
Ouch! This reminds me of when I burnt my hand when I tried to touch the handle of the pot.
The heat definitely transferred to my hand...
The girl remembers how they had to boil a pot of water, and that when the water was heating up, a current was created and was transferring heat through water and gas.
The teacher explains to the students that they will be moving on to conduction. The definition is up on the board.
And then conduction...
The girl remembers that she experienced conduction when she put her hand on the handle of the pot, and the heat transferred over and burnt her.
