Storyboard Text

  • Well, I just went to go see a therapist for a tryout session and he told me that the reason I have been feeling different lately is because I have been struggling with depression, and that I need to work on improving my mental health.
  • However, I unfortunately do not have the money to pay for weekly sessions with the therapist.
  • Hey Maxene, what's going on? You asked me to come over?
  • Anything for you Maxene, now let's get started.
  • Ah bud, I'm really sorry that you are going through this Maxene. Although, if you want I know a little bit about improving mental health after reading some articles in the internet and taking up seminars.
  • Oh really? That would help a lot. Thank you.
  • Firstly, one way to improve your mental well-being is by opening up to someone. Explain to them what you are experiencing, so they can understand how you are feeling.
  • So, me opening up to you is actually a good thing for me?
  • Exactly! It never hurts to talk.
  • Secondly, Keep yourself active. Many people exercise or play sports to occupy themselves. Exercise can help release chemicals like endorphins which helps reduce stress levels and symptoms of mental health conditions like anxiety and depression.
  • Well, I play volleyball every Tuesday and Thursday, and I usually feel the best when I’m on the court.
  • That’s Great! If you keep yourself active the less you will struggle with stress and mental illness.
  • And Finally, It is important to focus and improve on our mental health now rather than later. By avoiding or delaying treatment or not using strategies such as examples 1 and 2, you can continue to struggle with mental illness for the rest of your life, This can increase the risk of developing physical problems such as diabetes or heart disease.
  • Wow, I never knew about any of this information.
  • Anytime bud! You know what, let’s start improving today. I’ll give you the phone number of my therapist, from a few years ago!
  • Hey bud, dont worry about it, your my best friend, I’m here to help you with anything.
  • Thanks buddy! That means a lot to me!
  • Thank you for educating me about this Tresha.
