- Old Man: What are they doing?
- Santiago: What is the world'sgreatest lie?
- Old Man: It’s this that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie.
- Santiago: Where are you from and what to do you do?
- Old Man: I'm from Salem. The King of Salem.
- The old man standing beside Santiago and start to engage in conversation by asking what was happening in the surroundings. Meanwhile, Santiago tries to answer without much sociability and tries to remain respectful.
- How can I be sure that the omens are real?
- The universe speaks to everyone, but only a few people know how to listen.
- This time to continue the conversation, the old man asks for a sip of wine Santiago, so Santiago did give the wine to the old man. The old man looks intently at the book and speaks his opinion, and Santiago was too stunned because he thought the old man can’t read and is known to the book.
- Santiago scan and judge the outfit of the old man and he finds it odd because it's unique. He travels a lot and the designs got him curious about the old man's identity.
- These are Urim and Thummim, They will help you read omens and understand the language of the universe.
- Santiago is skeptical and asks the king how he can be sure that the omens are real. The king tells Santiago that the universe speaks to everyone, but only a few people know how to listen.
- The king tells Santiago a story about a boy who becomes a successful crystal merchant by following his Personal Legend.
- The king gives Santiago two stones, Urim and Thummim, to help him read omens and understand the language of the universe. Santiago thanks the king again and sets off on his journey with renewed determination.
