Storyboard Text

  • Scene 1 - Chapter 5 After a night at the abandoned church, Johnny comes back with supplies and a copy of "Gone with the Wind." They also come to the conclusion that they need to change their appearance.
  •  "We're gonna cut our hair, and you're gonna bleach yours... They'll have our descriptions in the paper."
  • "No, Johnny, not my hair!"
  • Scene 2 - Chapter 5 By the fifth day of staying in the church, Dally finds Pony and Johnny and relays that the heat should be off. He also gives Ponyboy a message from Sodapop about how the Curtis boys are dealing with his absence.
  • You'd better believe it!
  • Darry's getting worried? Anyway, Soda can improve his spelling...
  • "Do y'all want somethin' to eat or not?"
  • Scene 3 - Chapter 6 At a Dairy Queen, Dally reveals how bad things are back home and that Cherry Valence is working as a spy for the Greasers. Johnny contemplates about turning themselves in. Dally reacts negatively to this and is outraged when Johnny asks about what his parents think in the car.
  • "What?"
  • "I ain't got no record with the fuzz and it was self-defense. Ponyboy and Cherry can testify to that. And I don't aim to stay in that church all my life."
  • Scene 4 - Chapter 6 On the way back, they spot the same church on fire with a group of teachers and schoolchildren. Faint yelling is coming out of the burning establishment.
  • "Jerry, some of the kids are missing!"
  • "Let's go see what the deal is."
  • "Oh, glory!"
  • Scene 5 - Chapter 6 Johnny and Ponyboy confidently charge into the church and seek the trapped kids. The duo find them huddled in the back room and lift them gently out through a nearby window.
  • Scene 6 - Chapter 6 Ponyboy is told by Johnny to escape, and while he does, Dally clubs him in the back and knocks him unconscious. He wakes up in an ambulance separated from Johnny and Dally and is greeted by Jerry, a teacher who was present at the scene. He reveals what bad shape Johnny is in and that Dally slapped his back because his jacket was burning.
  • "No, we're Greasers."
  • "Are you just professional heroes or something?"
