- Of course how could I forget! After your letter I realized you were the man I wanted, but I was already engaged to be married to Tom. I received your letter the night before the wedding.

- I loved you too, but I also love Tom even though he has his flaws he is still my husband and my daughters father. I din't know when or if you may return and married him.
- If I'm being honest I loved you then and I love you now. I wanted a life with you before and even after the war but didn't get the opportunity.
- Thank you Gatsby, you are handsome as ever. Tom is a good man he just makes mistakes. I must tell you I am not as happy with his as I was with you.
