  • In around#160; 1660 James the Second took the Throne of England from his late brothers Charles the second. These brothers were Catholic very different from the Protestant leaders of the past, many people wanted him off the throne.
  • The Glorious Revolution
  • Both James and Charles had many disagreements with Parliament. James even suspended Parliament for a few weeks due to their challenge on his divine right#160;to rule.
  • At this point, enough was enough. Seven famous English nobles sough help by writing to William of Orange, a region which is now modern day France, these nobles asked William to place an army in England which they would then support.
  • William of Orange obliged to this request and placed the troops in England, met with little to no conflict by the English troops, that is why this is called the bloodless revolution in history books.
  • James took notice to this uprising and without hesitation or even a fight back for his kingdom, he fled. He traveled to France with his wife where evidently, he was dethroned.
  • In 1689 Parliament assigned William to the throne making him the king and his wife May the queen. Mary was actually the daughter of James still exiling her father, these two are the first rulers not chosen by divine right but by government.
