  • General Washington combined his troops with all the troops that the French sent him.
  • Then, he marched the Continental Army to Virginia.
  • The battle and fighting dragged on for weeks.
  • Finally, the British Army couldn't take it any more, and Cornwallis surrendered, making General Washington and the Colonists as a whole the winner.
