- Hello I'm doctor Andrew and I will we your doctor for today. My patient here is having some problems with his respiratory system.
- Hello I'm Dr. Jenny. Before we help our patient we have to learn a bit about the respiratory system and what it does.
- Let’s learn about the respiratory system first: 1. The parts of the respiratory include the nose, mouth, lungs, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, oesophagus and the alveoli.2. Oxygen travels from the environment and enters our body. It goes into the lung where it oxygenates blood and travels throughout the heart and then entire body. 3. The lungs are how we are alive has we breathe. The reason we still breath while asleep is because our sub-conscious mind knows that to stay alive we need to breath.
- That's very interesting. I defiantly have a problem with my lungs. My symptoms are: Cough, Fever, Chills and difficulty breathing. What do I have?
- You have what is called Pneumonia. Pneumonia affects the alveoli or air-sacs making them become inflamed and on some occasions filling with liquid or pus.
- Pneumonia can also badly affect cellular respiration. In this case it makes it hard for oxygen to get into your bloodstream.
