Storyboard Text

  • Nurse Taylor is arriving at work to her hospital unit in the ICU and is immediately flooded with a multitude of alarms going off around the unit as she begins to go through her daily checklists. She cannot tell what any of the noises correspond to or how to help. She also notices the call light on at the nurse's station.
  • Using WearForCare
  • Taylor reports to the nurse's station, completes her checklist, and identifies the patients she is responsible for. She then puts on her WearForCare smartwatch and will start receiving direct and immediate updates for the patients she is responsible for once she checks in via the computer.
  • Finishing Tasks
  • Taylor checks the computer at the nurse's station. She clicks on the patients she is responsible for this shift and assigns herself to them. She is able to see any handoff tasks remaining for her to take care of. She can view patient charts for each patient on the computer, along with previously recorded calls from the WearForCare. She begins to attend to the highest priority task automatically sorted by WearForCare.
  • Shift Hand Off
  • WearForCare shows Taylor her most high-priority call via color (indicating patient need) and patient room #/patient ID. She is able to walk into patient rooms with the resources to address calls right away instead of having to make multiple trips to ask and find what they need. After she tends to the patient she taps the watch to check the task off. The watch displays the next call.
  • Taylor is able to quickly tend to patients' needs in priority order and temporal order. She does not have to try to decipher through alarms. She is also able to have WearForCare log the calls and needs automatically in the patient chart where she can add details later.
  • Taylor drops her watch off at the front desk at the end of her shift for charging and sanitation. The next nurse that comes in can view the electronic record of patient calls and the remaining calls/tasks will roll over automatically when they log in. Taylor was able to attend to patient needs without delay today thanks to WearForCare!
