Teach students about an important African American in U.S. history and how they impacted later civil rights movements through stories, videos, and other lessons. Have students create a storyboard that shows why this person is significant. See the example below.
Illustrate part of the song "Shed a Little Light" and what it means.
Storyboard Text
"And though the body sleeps, the heart will never rest."
This part of the song means that even though we rest our bodies, our hearts are always awake. Physically our hearts never stop beating while we are alive, but it also means that we never stop loving, caring, and feeling for others; even when we are sleeping.
