Storyboard Text

  • In 1775, General Braddock led British Virginia troops to fort Cumberland to reach fort Duquesne. During this trip, they ran into French troops and their Native allies and were attacked, where the general and almost 1,000 British troops were wounded and killed, one being General Braddock.

  • The French and Native Americans had more of a positive relationship where they both participated in trade fur trapping together, which is why most Native tribes sided with the French. Some Native tribes like the Iroquois Confederacy were one of the few to be the British's allies. But, some tribes were neutral and fought along side either side vise versa during the war.

  • The British wanted to conquer Canada, and so they did. They conquered Louisbourg, Quebec, and Montreal, from the years of 1758 to 1760. In 1763 Britain and France signed a peace treaty, the Peace of Paris, where the British gained more control over North America and France basically lost all control.
