Day of the Dead

- It is called Day of the Dead in English and is celebrated in Mexican culture. We can go to my house and talk about it.
- Hey, Pablo, what is Dia de los Muertos? I saw it on the Internet and was wondering what it was.
- They decorate by making paper skulls and coloring then with bright colors. They have lots of colorful dresses and festivals. They make skull shaped sugar cookies, too.
- What types of decorations do they use and what do they wear?
- Does anyone know anything about Dia de los Muertos?
- Pablo's friend, Carter asks him about day of the Dead. Pablo knows alot about day of the dead. Day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos is a tradition celebrated in Mexican culture. It is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd.
- No problem! I was happy to help. Did you know were gonna have a test on it next class?
- Hey Pablo, we were talking about Day of the Dead in class today and the teacher was very proud of me for knowing so much. Thanks for helping me understand.
- I know! At least I'm prepared. I know pretty much everything that will be on the test.
- It is very festive during day of the dead. Mexican Women celebrate by wearing long colorful dresses and dancing. Mexican people decorate their houses with skulls that are painted. They also make sugar cookie skulls.
- Alright everyone, today is the test about Dia de los Muertos. I wish you best of luck!
- During Carter's Spanish class, his class gets asked what Dia de los Muertos is. Carter knows the answer because Pablo told him about it. No one else knew what Día de los Muertos is so Carter proudly raises his hand. The teacher is very proud of Carter.
- Dad, do you know what dia de los Muertos is?
- No son, I do not know. What is it?
- Carter talks to Pablo on the bus about the test. Pablo is proud that Carter understands what day of the Dead is. Pablo tells Carter some important things about Day of the Dead. Pablo tells Carter that Day of the Dead started in the Aztec culture and that Day of the Dead lasts 2 days.
- Today was the day of the test. Pablo and Carter are prepared. Pablo was first to finish with Carter following a couple minutes after him. Carter remember not to forget the two important things Pablo told him on the bus. Carter is excited to get the test back next class.
- Carter tells his father all about day of the Dead. A month later on November 1st his family goes to Pablo's house and make skull sugar cookies and celebrate day of the dead. His family really enjoyed celebrating day of the dead for the first time.
