- On the 10th of November 1483 Martin Luther was born in Eisleben, Germany. He lived in Mansfield and began his education at a Latin school. Martin studied Law in the early 1500's but one day whilst he was walking home from University a deadly storm approached and he prayed to god for help , promising him he would devote himself to Catholicism. Staying true to the promise after making it home safely he ordained into priesthood in 1507.

- At the time of the reformation the bible was inly written in Latin and not many people could read in Latin yet, so the church decided to use this to twist and lie to their people. The Roman Catholic Church were selling Indulgences to the people so they could skip purgatory and go straight to heaven. The church used this money to build St Basilica.

- Martin Luther was disgusted in how the Catholic Church could be lying to the people and not following God's actual words. Dus to the churches lies luther wrote out the 95 theses and nailed it to the churches door. At this time the printing press had just been invented so this Reformation got sent around pretty quickly.
- I believe that salvation should is reached through your faith and not deeds
- The church was not happy with Martin and sentenced him to the Diet of Worms but the people did not like what the church had done to an innocent man and helped him escape. They kept him hidden until the whole continent of Europe realised what the church had done. Whilst he was hidden away he rewrote the Bible from Latin to German so that people knew what God actual said and wants people to live by.
- Luther sent the Bible written in German to the printing press so that all of Europe could read the real Bible. People began to protest against the Catholic Church causing people to break away from the church and form their own type of church on what they believe God's real message was.
- Martin Luther's writings were responsible for fractionalizing the Catholic Church and sparking the Protestant Reformation. He preached that salvation is reached through faith and not deeds.
