- Dalits are not allowed to enter the temple...how dare you even think of stepping in. Get out of here and don't even come near the temple again!!!
- The residents of malulpala village (population 9,000) raised a fund to build a temple

- Then dalit women observed the festival by lightening their lamps outside the temple.
- The temple priest took offence at this and trashed the women and kicked their lamps aside... After this the village boycotted the dalit population, blocking access to the temple well, stopping them for going to their fields, preventing their children from going to school and refusing to sell anything from shops.
- District officials held a "peace committee meeting" where it was decided that the dalit would be given access to a newly built structures in the temple itself.
