  • These satellites would establish a precedent for "freedom of space" and we'd be able to conduct flyovers without permission or negative consequences. The Committee urges you to consider this.
  • I can't believe the Soviets rejected my Open Skies proposal. I thought it would work and we'd be able to learn more about their Soviet arms. We need to come up with another way to gather intelligence.
  • Hmm, seems like an idea worth trying. If this ends up being successful, we'll be at a great advantage. I'll announce at the next conference we're working on a scientific satellite., we must keep the rest top-secret. You must get to work quickly, there's no time to waste,.
  • This way, I'll be able to spy on them while exploring space. We'll be first in no time.
  • What if we launched non-military satellites? They'll be able to travel over enemy terrain without risk of being shot down.
  • I wouldn't be so sure Eisenhower.
  • This is just one of many steps getting us closer to reaching space. Nothing can stop us!
  • I am pleased to announce that the U.S will finally begin to work on a scientific satellite.
  • Eisenhower must think I have no idea of what's going on. I know all about the potential for reconnaissance, and I won't let him get away with it.
  • I just thought I'd let you and everybody listening know that the Soviet Union is about to launch a satellite and reach space before you do. WE will truly control space!
  • WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE KHRUSHCHEV???
  • What an incredible feat for Russia in the Space Race. The satellite Sputnik 1 was successfully launched into orbit. Could you tell us a bit about this accomplishment and any future plans?
  • We're very glad everything worked according to plan. We're currently tracking the progress of Sputnik 1. I don't want to reveal much but we are working and close to finishing something else, you'll have to wait and see. We're sure our efforts will continue to pay off.
  • Just a month after sending the first satellite to space, another milestone for Russia with a second one. Sputnik 2, has been sent to space, this time with the first animal ever being sent into orbit. This has placed us further ahead in this race to explore space. How does it feel?
  • It truly is remarkable the things our country has been able to do. We seem to be the only ones to truly recognize the importance of space efforts. This is just one of many examples that shows the rest of the world how powerful our country is and continues becoming. This is not the end yet, we will win this space race once and for all!
  • This will show America who is the best.
  • After much speculation and anticipation, our country has finally caught up and sent our satellite Explorer 1 into orbit. Could you tell us a bit more?
  • This is a very exciting time here in America. Many doubted that I didn't recognize the importance of space efforts since we weren't the first to reach space and had numerous failed trials. What we've accomplished will go down in history. Not only were we able to reach orbit, we also managed to gather useful scientific data. We will continue advancing along!
  • Khrushchev must be going crazy right now. He better watch out.
